Soccer and Sun

T1 tried out for a competitive soccer team and made it! He's winding down the season with his current team and the season with his new team will start the first week in August. He is so excited and we're very proud of him!

So, on Saturday morning, I took T1 to swim practice at the YMCA and ran on the treadmill while waiting for him to finish. When we got in the car after practice was over, I had a text message from Matt that said "I have an idea. Hurry home." I called him when I saw this message and he suggested that we pack up the kids and head to the beach for the rest of the weekend. He rented a condo and we hit the road. Aside from an unplanned detour, loud and babbling kiddos, and a lengthy wait for the ferry, we made the trip with relative ease. This was the first time T3 had ever seen the ocean and he really enjoyed it. T1 and T2 were, of course, super excited! T1 bought himself a boogie board and played in the surf. He took a brief break only when he found a couple of hermit crabs, felt something scratch his legs, and thought he saw a human arm float by him. T2 ran up and down the beach the entire time; seriously, it seemed he ran and ran for hours on end. Not only did he run along the shore, but he also ran out into the surf. Between the jelly fish that had washed ashore and his fearless approach to jumping in the waves, he was terrifying me! T3 also had a lot of fun. Like T2, he ran up and down the beach, but he refrained from going too deep in the water. He had more fun chasing the birds and playing in the sand. Speaking of birds, I have no idea where this came from, but T2 repeatedly yelled "Stupid birds!" at the seagulls. We kept scolding him, but he just laughed. Surprise, surprise. We all came home tired and sunburned, but it was worth it. Great idea, Matt! Here are a couple pictures I took:
