We had planned to go to Port Aransas this weekend, but a cold front blew in with some rain so we ditched that plan and headed to Enchanted Rock instead. Unfortunately, the hill country wasn't immune to the cold front, so we decided to first eat at our favorite place in Fredericksburg (Clear River Bakery, mmm mmm good) in hopes that it would warm up while we ate. Although it didn't warm up, we forgot how cold it was as we hiked around the park. We took Dominick, a friend of T1's, with us and the two of them ran around like crazy. Matt had his GPS unit with him, so we hiked off the trail in some pretty tough places to find a couple of geocaches. (Don't know what geocaching is? Check out: http://www.geocaching.com/.) We ran into several fellow "cachers" and even found a chip to plant in another geocache. T1 and Dominick loved it!
I guess taking T2 and T3 to E Rock was a pretty ambitious thing to do, particularly since the rock was slippery from the rain and we planned on hiking off-trail, but they both did really good. Aside from trying to squat a poop out every hour or so (see a couple of his efforts below), he was busy pretending he was Spider Man and I was his web as he swung from rock to rock.
T2 was an awesome hiker - he almost made it to the peak all by himself. I was impressed! T3 was intent on hiking himself, but when he didn't do so hot Matt took control and threw him in the pack on his back (and that's where he stayed the rest of the day!).
There were times in the day when Matt was carrying T3 on his back and T2 up front. He even did that the entire way down the rock. He never complained even when I asked over and over "are you okay?". He's such an awesome man! Here's a picture of T3 trying to lean over Matt's shoulder to kiss T2 while Matt was holding them both (T3 on his back and T2 up front).
